On My Screen Lately: Fleabag

Friday, May 31, 2019

Twitter was buzzing about this show I had never heard of and after avoiding it for about two weeks, I decided to just watch the show and get it over with. Well, to my surprise I ended up watching both season 1 and 2 (they are each 6 episodes so it's not that bad) in one day. While I had a lot of thoughts about season 1 and not all of them good, season 2 was far better and my favorite of the two. So, lets talk about Fleabag!

It was created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (who also created Killing Eve) and she writes and stars in the show as well. The rest of the cast is just as incredible--from the likes of Bill Patterson to Olivia Colman to Andrew Scott to Sian Clifford, who is new to me! You can check out the IMDb page for more!

I wouldn't read further if you haven't watched the show because there will be spoilers!

Review Round Up (#3): Back to Reading

Wednesday, May 29, 2019

My reading journey this year has been very much like a rollercoaster. I began the year incredibly strong by reading so many books before I hit a huge reading slump. The slump disappeared some time in April but came back in May. Needless to say, I'm hoping to get back in the swing of things by continuously reading books that capture my attention. I have a few of three books I recently read and loved, two in the Young Adult contemporary and one that is an Adult historical romance!

Goodbye, Game of Thrones

Monday, May 20, 2019

I do not have words to describe what I am feeling at this very moment in time. After 8 years, 8 seasons, and 73 episodes, Game of Thrones will be coming to an end. This journey has been a rollercoaster of emotions and I am prepared but unprepared for this end.

I have watched this show since it first aired. I remember hearing that HBO was going to be adapting the books into a show. I remember hearing the cast announcements and all of the updates HBO gave us. I remember string with my laptop in April of 2011, a junior in high school, ready to transport myself to Westerns.

These 8 years have not been easy. There have been several moments in this show that have tested me in so many ways. I have cried over these characters and their deaths. I have yelled at the screen over ridiculous story lines. I have anxiously waited for the new season to come on in the spring so I can relive all of these emotions over and over again. To think that I will no longer have a season go Game of Throne to look forward to is astounding.

I have too many favorite scenes and characters to talk about but I wanted to talk about 8 of my favorite scenes, characters, and music from this series. They will not be in any sort of order but truly meaningful aspects of this show.

***There will be spoilers obviously! If you haven't caught up on all 8 seasons, don't read the rest of this post!***

And So I Begin Again

Sunday, May 19, 2019

If there are two aspects of my life that has never changed over the years it is my love for quotes and Spring. Anything and everything that comes with Spring is my favorite. I love when the flowers blossom and life just seems to come back to the earth. The thunderstorms and the smell of the earth after an amazing storm just make my day.

Spring to me means the resurgence after the cold, dark months and it's a big part of life as well. Even though New Years is the time for resolutions, Spring is when I fully allow myself to get back on track in case I fall off. It's my favorite time of the year and it's when I really want to go after my goal.
But what is the point of all of this talk about Spring? Well, if it's not obvious already, I'm struggling to blog on here. I made a goal to truly get back to blogging because I missed it so much but I have only posted 8 times in 2019! That is not a good number!

Along with what Spring presents for me, the tag line for my blog is this:
I began this blog for myself. For my present self to get back into writing and sharing my thoughts with the world and being on this joinery of life. Like the Lao Tzu quote above, I wanted to begin with that single step to get myself on this journey.

This post and these two reminders are what I want to have in order to get back to blogging and sharing my thoughts with the world. I don't know who is reading (if anyone) but I want to begin again and take that step to get on this journey. I will probably have periodic updates about my journey so I hope you'll stick around for that.
