I do not own this image. I edited the image in Canva.
Ever since she released folklore in June, I have been on a Taylor Swift binge. While Red is my favorite album of Taylor's, folklore has come very close to being second or even tied for first place. In honor of her eighth studio album, I decided it would be fun to finally listen to all of her discography! So today, I have her third studio album, Speak Now

Fearless released on October 25, 2010. She wrote every song herself as a way to prove to her critics that she always wrote her music.

1. "Mine"

  • For some reason I had no idea that this was the first song on this album
  • “You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter”
    • You learn so much about this person through this lyric alone
  • I love the inversion of the “the best thing, that's ever been mine” lyric

2. "Sparks Fly"

  • This was written when she was 16 so some of the lyrics are obvious.
  • It's a fun song but definitely not one of my favorites.

3. "Back to December"

  • One of my all time favorites of Taylor's songs
  • Probably one of her only apology songs
  • "You gave me roses and I left them there to die"
    • she mentions roses several other times such as "the lakes" and "Call It What You Want"
  • "It turns out freedom meant nothing but missing you"
    • I've always loved this line. It hits a little to close to home.

4. "Speak Now"

  • "And I am hiding in the curtains / it seems that I was uninvited by your lovely bride to be"
    • I'm not entirely sure I can get over this song; what is the point of someone going to a wedding to crash it?

5. "Dear John"

  • I've heard so much about this song
  • "Counting my footsteps praying the floor won't fall through"
  • "So don't look now / I'm shining like fireworks / over your sad empty town"

6. "Mean"

  • I've always loved this song and music video
  •  the country flair is back
  • "Some day I'll be living in a big ole city / and all you're ever gonna be is mean"

7. "The Story of Us"

  • I really enjoy this song; really upbeat and so much fun
  • "spot next to you"
    • I love that she mentions this in "Lover." The difference between these two songs and probably the men that inspired them.
  • "but you held you pride like you should've held me"

8. "Never Grow Up"

  • This is such a sweet, heartbreaking song
  • the stripped back music and vocals is my favorite from Swift
  • This is such a true song; it's not until we're adult that we realize it's not as great as we thought it would be

9. "Enchanted"

  • I love this song and I fully understand why people love it so much
  • 2am
  • "This was the very first page/ not where the story line ends"
    • "Death by a Thousand Cuts" and "Cornelia Street" references
  • "Please don't be in love with someone else / Please don't have somebody waiting on you"
    • Can we say "Gorgeous"

10. "Better than Revenge"

  • Yikes
  • "She's better know for the things that she does on the mattress"

11. "Innocent"

  • "Lost your balance on a tightrope"
  • "wasn't it beautiful when you believed in everything / and everybody believed in you"--I hear references to "The Man"
  • I think we all agree that this is about the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and Kanye

12. "Haunted"

  • "Something keeps me holding onto nothing"
  • this was unexpectedly a really good song

13. "Last Kiss"

  • 1:58am--almost 2am
  • This song destroyed me and I don't know why
  • This makes me think of "Cornelia Street": the thought of losing a love can be so difficult
  • "So I'll watch you life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep" and "like I used to feel your breathe"--"Lover" and "Paper Rings"

14. "Long Live"

  • This is a song to her band, her team and her fans
  • "It was the end of a decade / but the start of an age"
  • "One day we will be remembered"
  • "Can you take a moment, promise me this / that you'll stand by me forever"
  • "I had the time of my life with you"

15. "Ours"

  • "They'll judge it like they know about me and you"
    • "Call it what you want" from reputation: "I want to wear his initial / On a chain round my neck, chain round my neck / Not because he owns me / But 'cause he really knows me"
  • "People throw rocks at things that shine"
    • I love thinking about "New Romantics" when she talks about building a castle with all the bricks they've thrown at her
  • "And I'll fight their doubt and give you faith"

16. "If This Was A Movie"

  • "Maybe I've been going back too much lately"
  • Rain/water is often used in her songs

17. "Superman"

  • "Tall, dark, Superman" and "Tall, dark, beautiful"
    • I love the inversion of this traditional line especially when she changes "Superman" to "beautiful"
  • "I loved you from the very first day" message from "Dear John"
  • Eh, I can see why this is an extra song
I know a lot of people love this album but it wasn't for me. Some of the songs are memorable, and I can tell why people love it so much, but overall, I wasn't as invested in these tracks.
