Black History Month: Toni Morrison

Choosing five quotes of Toni Morrison's to feature was beyond hard. She's such a prolific writer and there are so many places to choose from. But here are five that, at this moment in my life, is important to me.

I don't think there's much I need to say about this quote. It's straight to the point.

This is yet another quote that gets me to really contemplate my life. If I have finally allowed myself to move on from things holding me back, thus freeing myself, but I am unable to use that freedom for good, what's the point?

Oof, this quote hits hard this year considering that fear is what holds me back a lot of the time. It's a great reminder that fear is all in my head, regardless of what I think is stopping me.

This was also a quote that holds a lot of meaning for me, especially after last year. I came to understand that sorrow was like a circle, one with no beginning and no ending. No matter how often I would try to suppress my feelings, they would come back.

This is one quote that I went back to over and over again last year after I lost my grandfather. I had a lot of moments that I was going to lose memories of him but this quote was a reminder that I would never lose him.
